"Media" is one of those words that gets tossed around without anybody really understanding what it means. Well, we're not going to get complex about it. By media Vampgeist means two things--communication and information. In our case, it's media as pertains to vampires and vampirism. If you're reading this, you're part of digital media, and it pertains to you too!

This community as it has been will continue. Everyone is free to get as much or as little involved as you wish.

Welcome to Vampgeist, an online network of groups and forums that respects your essence and your intelligence as a real vampire. The more you use the features at your disposal here, the more you can get out of your Vampgeist experience.

"Vampgeist" is a term I coined as a modification of the German Zeitgeist, which literally breaks into Zeit (time, era, an age) and Geist (spirit). But instead of being the spirit of an age, Vampgeist is the spirit of the vampire--who we are, what we're seeking, what we're doing.

I'm Sappho Wolf, and you may have seen me around on other vampire sites. The rules are delightfully simple. Vampgeist adheres to two simple ententes. Our guiding idea began its existence as the Creed of the Kindred of the Order of Maidenfear. But in time this Creed proved itself to be far more applicable and its appeal has been universal. Thus I have renamed it "A Vampire's Creed", totally open to interpretation. This is no rote list of ethics and expectations that presumes to tell you what to do, but rather an acknowledgment of you as an individual and the value of your independent thought.


A Vampire's Creed

I am vampire. I kneel before no other creature. I am an intelligent animal who has retained my animal intelligence. This flesh of mine is a gift in which I celebrate. But my lot in the convoluted universal matrix is to exist as a creature of energy. I thrive on the energy of the cosmos around me. That energy exists in many forms. It exists in lifeblood, in psychic forces, in the angry hurling of lightning bolts from cloud to cloud. This diversity manifests on the earth in the many different and legitimate breeds of vampire which share the world with mortal humans. Knowing that I am part of this lineage, I seek to mate my personal energy with that of magic and nature as a vital part of my existence. Pounding surf, rustling crisp leaves, magical ritual-all of these empower me, and I take what is offered or what I have made for myself. As a vampire, I am a natural being part of the natural universe. I am not confined to this plane or this dimension. I am a cosmic being of fluctuating energy. The matter that makes my flesh and flows through my body drifted down from the stars over millions of years. My sight and my vision are necessarily wider and broader. Life, death, what are these to me? They dance as close as hungry lovers. This is no two-sided mortal coin but one great continuum. The impetus of eternity, then, is the power of the vampire. It is my power, and I claim that power for myself.

The second entente is the Vampgeist Manifesto. This has been assembled from text found at this site in its previous incarnation. Vampgeist Manifesto A vampire thinks out issues and subjects relevant to the real vampire community. We're all thinking, we all have opinions. We're working in the present to secure an abundant future for vampire kind. New vampires as well as the vampire-curious are welcome. We're not concerned with repeating the affirmation that vampires exist. We know they exist. Here, we're discussing vampirism as it is and how we relate in it and to it. But a wise fledgling can learn from anything, and so the less-experienced are invited. Some topics to consider: --The role of genetics and other biological factors in vampirism --The portrayal of real vampires in print --The positive and negative ramifications of vampirism --Blood and what does it mean --Vampirism as it is common to all humanity --Means of feeding --Vampirism beyond feeding --Emotional effects and circumstances

You will find that the Groups and the Forums have been greatly improved, and are now more conducive to a website the main goal of which is communication between vampires.

I invite all of you to help make Vampgeist YOUR vampire nexus on the Internet. To that extent, feel free to create groups relevant to you and forums on topics you want to discuss. And don't forget our chat room, which now has its own place as a special group.

Welcome to the gateway for The Blood Driven Life, my philosophy vampires and real vampirism. Come forward and do not be frightened. You have nothing to fear from us unless you should be fool enough to gain our enmity. Know that we the vampires are real, so very real, and as real as anything you have ever known. Know this and be resolved to it, for in accepting us do you take a tremendous step forward.

Don't be put off if I sound elitist. I'm actually pretty open-minded. But I do think the community can benefit from someone suggesting some hard and fast ideas, either to be agreed with or argued with. Additionally, my sphere here is but one small part of Vampgeist--I do not claim to speak for anyone but myself.

MY MISSION

My friends, I put before you the Vampire Renaissance, the rebirth of your kind. We shall now wipe the patina of this world from our eyes and throw off the shackles of propriety and social acceptability.

For we, I say, are vampires, and such things are not our concern. Let us be reborn as the wild beasts that we are and allow ourselves to be restrained by none!

Vampires, hear my call!

A true vampire will have the following attributes. This vampire must have them all.

1) To be a vampire means the consumption of human blood. There is no other way. If taking in blood is not part of your vampirism, you are not a vampire.

2) Vampires will not naturally gather into groups. We may come together for conversation or discussion, but the vampire existence is an independent and solitary one.

3) True vampires have vampirism in their genetic makeup. There is no such thing as making a vampire from someone who is genetically bereft.

Here, then, are the three things that separate a true vampire from someone desperately trying to pretend.

Let us not be afraid to be what we are! We are gathering now to fight the whitewashing of vampirism which has become so commonplace!
